Lie To Me

Published by blognuts under Online Gems, Tips Edit This

I’ve been watching Lie to Me at Fox every Wednesday … and I must say its quite fascinating. I’ve always find it cool to be able to read body language.  Is he giving me a fake smile or genuine, is he lying or not, what does shrug of the shoulder mean? Those are some of the things that you can see on the show but these are real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman.

I read up on  the connection of eye movement and lying … i found one very useful diagram called Visual Accessing Cue.

Visually Constructed Images (Vc)
If you asked someone to “Imagine a purple buffalo”, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Visually Constructed” a purple buffalo in their mind.

Visually Remembered Images (Vr)
If you asked someone to “What color was the first house you lived in?”, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Visually Remembered” the color of their childhood home.

Auditory Constructed (Ac)
If you asked someone to “Try and create the highest the sound of the pitch possible in your head”, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Auditorily Constructed” this this sound that they have never heard of.

Auditory Remembered (Ar)

If you asked someone to “Remember what their mother’s voice sounds like “, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Auditorily Remembered ” this sound.

Feeling / Kinesthetic (F)
If you asked someone to “Can you remember the smell of a campfire? “, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they used recalled a smell, feeling, or taste.

Internal Dialog (Ai)

This is the direction of someone eyes as they “talk to themselves”.

I believe this suggests that if someone is lying they look to the right which indicates a made up answer as their eyes are showing a “constructed image or sound”.

Deleting Locked Files on MAC

Published by blognuts under MAC, Tips Edit This

Recently I encountered an error emptying my trash folder.  I transferred photos from my camera’s memory stick to my computer. It was about 200 pictures ( I know, I know…  I need to organize my photos better). I picked the ones I want to keep. Some for printing, some would go to my online gallery but most of them are just junk and would go to my trash folder.

When it was time to empty them out (trash folder), I received an error message. Apparently, the photos I transferred to the trash folder are locked photos. I tried holding down the “Option/Apple” key as I click “Empty Trash” BUT IT DIDNT WORK.

I started to panic. I googled for solution but couldnt find any.  I desperately tried to unlock the photos one by one but after spending 20 minutes and I still had over 100 photos to go…  I thought “there SHOULD be an easier way than this”. There always is. So I googled some more. And I stumbled upon 1 blog who had the same issue and suggested …

“Cmd +Option + Shift + Backspace”.

It worked beautifully!

I am now at peace! lol! :)
